A young man described as a deadly and notorious armed robber has been killed by an angry mob in Owerri, Imo State.

According to reports, the deceased, Charles Emeka Okonkwo , also known as Fela, was the leader of a gang of dangerous bandits who had been terrorising some communities around the Umuchoko, Agunaze and Ahiazu Mbaise axis of the state, visiting havoc on victims but the day of doom came on Monday, September 19, 2016, when he was overpowered by the mob and killed.
   Eyewitnesses say that the 26-year-old Okonkwo sustained various degree of injuries from the angry mob and could not be saved by the police who rushed him to a private hospital in Owerri, the state capital, where he was confirmed dead.
Residents say that Fela's gang was responsible for multiple robberies and murder cases in the area which saw a prominent businessman,
Chigozie Onyenemegam , murdered in front of the Federal High Court in Owerri in June, and that of one Lucky at Umuonyeche in Owerri.

They were also fingered in the murder of another businessman, Goodluck David , who was killed along Oguamanam Street, Owerri.
